St.
Nicholas Parish Formally Welcomes New Auxiliary Bishop, Kyr David Motiuk
On June 11, 2002, by the will of God and the blessing of the Holy Roman Apostolic See, Father David Motiuk was ordained bishop by His Beatitude Cardinal Lubomyr Husar, at St. Basil's Church in Edmonton.
On June 18, Kyr David was officially welcomed as auxiliary bishop to Metropolitan Michael, at a solemn vespers at Sts. Volodymyr & Olga Cathedral.
Bishop David is no stranger to Winnipeg. On August 18, 2001, as Rector of Holy Spirit Seminary, he presented four candidates to priestly ordination at the Cooks Creek pilgrimage. He also was the main speaker at the Winnipeg UCWLC Convention in November of the same year. Then Father David graciously accepted our invitation to participate in the Centennial Celebration of Saint Nicholas Parish. On June 10,2001, he concelebrated at the Pontifical Divine Liturgy and attended the Saturday banquet and the Sunday reception.
Saint Nicholas Parish warmly welcomes our new auxiliary bishop at a Pontifical Divine Liturgy, at 11:00am on Sunday December 15, 2002. We look-forward to Your service and guidance, Vladyko, and promise our prayers and support.
Welcome once again to Saint Nicholas Church!
Father Athanasius McVay, OSBM
